Skills/Green Job Training for Adults
San Francisco, August 15, 2006
The
Environmental Skills / Green Job Training Program
is a hands-on program for low-income adults and
18-24 year olds residing in Excelsior, OMI, Glen
Park, Bernal Heights, Mission, Potrero Hill, Bay
View, and Hunter's Point, who are primarily immigrants
from diverse cultures. This program is organized
in conjunction with City College and the SF Recreation
and Park Department among other collaborative partners.
Skills and topics that will be covered in the class
include: Horticulture & Urban Agriculture, Multicultural
Gardening, Plant Propagation/Nursery, Composting/Soil
Building, Tree Planting & Pruning, Animals/Aquaculture,
Ecological Restoration, California Native Plants,
Green Design & Careers, Natural & Recycled
Building, Water & Energy Conservation, Irrigation/Gray
Water, Solar & Wind Energy, Bio-Diesel Fuel
Production, Computer Training, and ESL Training.

been appointed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors
to the San Francisco Urban Forestry Council. The
Urban Forestry Council helps set city policy to
plant and protect trees in San Francisco.
