Develop Your Green Skills With A Living Library’s A.L.L. Green Futures Paid Summer Internship Program 2018

Summers are fun! Make that fun count through learning by doing and contributing to the environment while getting paid!

A Living Library invites applications from Middle and High School students for the A.L.L. Green Futures Paid Summer Internship Program. This unique program held at the OMI / Excelsior Living Library & Think Park, on Oneida Avenue (between San Miguel Early Education School and James Denman Middle School), and the Bernal Heights Living Library & Think Park Nature Walk based at St. Mary’s Recreation Center, mentors Middle and High School students to become A.L.L. Eco-Stewards and helps them gain real-world experience in green job skills, gardening, ecology, nutrition, cooking, creative arts, and sustainable business through integrated hands-on learning program.

Bonnie Ora Sherk Talks About A Living Library at Open Engagement 2018 at The Queens Museum, New York

At Open Engagement (OE) 2018 - an annual, itinerant, artist-led conference in its tenth year, Bonnie Ora Sherk was invited as one of the five panelists at the session “The Power of Time : Social Practice Eco Artists of a Certain Age”, on May 13, 2018 at Queens Museum, New York. The 90-minute panel was led by Linda Weintraub, curator, artist and author of several popular books about contemporary art. This year, the Conference was themed around Sustainability, emphasizing the field of socially engaged art, and featured distinguished artist Mel Chin and writer, curator Lucy Lippard among others. Bonnie Ora Sherk’s Public Talk on A Living Library at Kulturfolger, Zurich

After a very successful opening of A Living Library Is Cultivating The Human & Ecological Garden at Parco Arte Vivente in Turin, Italy, as part of the International Exhibition, The God-Trick, the next stop was Zurich, Switzerland. Bonnie Ora Sherk was invited to give a Public Talk to introduce the concept of A Living Library to an audience of diverse residents, including artists, architects, landscape architects, educators, and representatives from public agencies. During her presentation on May 07 at Kulturfolger, a non-profit art space in Zurich, she shared her vision to create International Branch Living Libraries & Think Parks , globally, and she spoke of the idea of developing a unique Zurich Branch Living Library & Think Park over time to involve diverse sectors of the community in the process. People were enthused and want her to come back !
