From September 28, 2018 to June 15, 2019, the de Saisset Museum in Santa Clara University is hosting the exhibition Radical Velocity, curated by Lauren Baines, showing the power of the human body to impact our sense of place. Several images from Bonnie Ora Sherk‘s Sitting Still Series (1970), a powerful and pioneering, environmental performance installation series, are being featured in the Exhibition. The Sitting Still Series highlights how a seated human figure can very simply transform an environment. Seated in an armchair in diverse urban places – Army Street/101 Freeway Interchange Construction Zone, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Financial District including Bank of America Plaza, and various indoor/ outdoor cages in the San Francisco Zoo, Bonnie Ora Sherk transformed dead spaces into new and interesting environments that changed our perceptions about possibilities.

Open Engagement Conference 2018 at Queens Museum
At Open Engagement (OE) 2018 - an annual, itinerant, artist-led conference in its tenth year, Bonnie Ora Sherk was invited as one of the five panelists at the session “The Power of Time : Social Practice Eco Artists of a Certain Age”, on May 13, 2018 at Queens Museum, New York. The 90-minute panel was led by Linda Weintraub, curator, artist and author of several popular books about contemporary art. This year, the Conference was themed around Sustainability, emphasizing the field of socially engaged art, and featured distinguished artist Mel Chin and writer, curator Lucy Lippard among others. Please join Bonnie Ora Sherk at Parco Arte Vivente in Turin, Italia for the Opening on May 4, 2018 of A Living Library Is Cultivating The Human & Ecological Garden, curated by Marco Scotini as part of the Exhibition, Trucco di Dio - The God Trick that is also celebrating PAV’s Ten Year Anniversary.
This Group Exhibition will open in parallel with an important International Conference on the Anthropocene, Climate Change and Related Ecological Issues which begins in the afternoon of May 4 through Saturday, May 5 ending with Bonnie Ora's Public Talk on A Living Library at 6 pm.
On May 7, 2018, she will be giving another Public Talk on A Living Library at 8 pm at Kulturfolger, Zurich.
