Students from the\u00a0 Pinewood School <\/strong><\/em>in San Mateo, joined\u00a0Life Frames, Inc., Bonnie Ora Sherk<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0SF Recreation & Park Department<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0St. Mary’s Park\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>on April 30th, to plant California native plants\u00a0in the Oak Allee<\/em><\/strong> in\u00a0St. Mary’s Park<\/em>, as part of the\u00a0Bernal Heights Living Library & Think Park Nature Walk. \u00a0<\/i><\/b>The Oak Allee<\/em> is flourishing\u00a0and the\u00a0Nature Walk<\/i>\u00a0<\/b>is growing\u00a0<\/i><\/b>!<\/p>\n

The student volunteers planted about 200 California Natives including two varieties of Ceanothus (Yankee Point & Dark Star), Romnya coulteri (Matillja Poppy), Fremontedendron (California Flannel Bush).\u00a0 It will look increasingly colorful and gorgeous as the blooms come forth with blues, purples, yellows, and whites !!!\u00a0 We are painting a growing, changing landscape of color, multi-functionality, and beauty !!!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Bernal Heights Living Library<\/strong>\u00a0Nature Walk<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>links schools, parks, public housing, streets, and other open spaces leading to the currently hidden\u00a0Islais Creek<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at the south side of St. Mary’s Park.\u00a0 The\u00a0Nature Walk<\/em>\u00a0is creating a new, expressive,\u00a0 narrative landscape that is a prototype for what could be occurring throughout the whole\u00a0Islais Creek Watershed<\/strong><\/em>, the largest in San Francisco, that interlinks eleven neighborhoods:\u00a0 Noe Valley, Mission, Bernal Heights, Potrero Hill, Bayview, Portola, Crocker-Amazon, Excelsior, OMI, Sunnyside, Glen Park.<\/p>\n
