Beginning in 2018, the grant will support the <a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/omiexcelsior\/site-meeting-ca-natural-resources-agency-seneca-avenue-transformation-june-510-12-noon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s3\">ecological transformation of Seneca Avenue<\/span><\/a> \u2014 a long, barren, and wide stretch of concrete that aggravates flooding problems in the surrounding areas and the communities around the Islais Creek Watershed. The ecological transformation of Seneca Avenue Streetscape will lead to a series of <i>Rain Gardens<\/i>, bordering four public schools and expanding the <i>OMI\/Excelsior Living Library &amp; Think Park<\/i>\u00a0and th<i class=\"\">e A.L.L. The <a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/omiexcelsior\/transformation-james-denman-middle-school-rear-yard-gray-green-expands-omiexcelsior-living-library-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s3\">Rear Yard of James Denman Middle School<\/span><\/a> has been transformed by removal of tons of asphalt and concrete, and the planting of California native tress and colorful native understory plants by teams of enthusiastic students and Salesforce volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the project\u2019s progress has been hindered by the discovery of a second layer of asphalt and concrete, beneath the first excavated layer. <\/span><i style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Living Library <\/i><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">plans to complete the greening project this year and create a <\/span><i style=\"text-align: justify;\">California Native<\/i> <i style=\"text-align: justify;\">Redwood Circle<\/i><span style=\"text-align: justify;\"> as new outdoor classroom and community resource, with the help of volunteers and additional donors.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you want to help, <\/span><a style=\"text-align: justify;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.networkforgood.org\/donation\/MakeDonation.aspx?ORGID2=133776512&amp;vlrStratCode=ikte7ptBeiZU57MdtOF65mzseMeH7CVq50%2btm1ayrgVO3TBPMhAP78wPCo0jFjyK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donate Now !<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">We need to raise an additional $15,000. Nature Walk: Oak Allee in St. Mary\u2019s Park<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s2\">To continue to raise awareness about the importance and opportunities of the Islais Creek Watershed, the largest in San Francisco that interconnects eleven neighborhoods \u2013 Noe Valley, Mission, Bernal Heights, Potrero Hill, Bayview, Portola, Crocker-Amazon, Excelsior, OMI, Glen Park &#8211; and the many values of ecological green spaces with systemically integrated hands-on community and school education, <a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/branches\/projects\/islais-creek-watershed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>A.L.L. <\/i>plans to expand its prototype <i>Bernal Heights Living Library &amp; Nature Walk<\/i> in schools, communities, parks, street sites, public housing, and other open spaces throughout the Islais Creek Watershed<\/a>, including transformation of two currently derelict and flooding freeway interchanges (101\/Chavez &amp; 101\/Alemany) into <i>Islais Creek Watershed Northern &amp; Southern Gateway Community Parks<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>&#8211; Entrances to the Watershed. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b><\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>Developing New <i>Branch Living Library &amp; Think Parks<\/i> in Reno, Nevada, Turin, Italy, and Zurich, Switzerland:<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s2\">In addition to the existing<i> Branch Living Library &amp; Think Parks <\/i>and<i> Nature Walk <\/i>in San Francisco and New York City<i>, Life Frames <\/i>has been invited to begin planning for new <i>Branch Living Library &amp; Think Parks <\/i>in diverse communities \u2013 nationally and internationally. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s2\">In January last year, Bonnie Ora was one of the keynote speakers at the <a href=\"https:\/\/sciencealive.dri.edu\/steam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s3\"><i>STEAM Teacher Training; City Planning Design, Development and the Human Experience <\/i><\/span><\/a>at the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno.\u00a0Her presentation in January:<a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/art-landscape-architecture-systemic-design\/steam-teacher-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<i class=\"\">A.L.L.<\/i>\u00a0<i class=\"\">STEAM+Literacy<\/i>\u00a0<i class=\"\">With<\/i>\u00a0<i class=\"\">A Living Library\u00a0<\/i><\/a>was received well by an enthusiastic crowd of Nevada educators, city leaders, and others. \u00a0Plus, her installation at the Museum: \u00a0<i class=\"\">A Living Library Is Cultivating The Human &amp; Ecological Garden<\/i>\u00a0and her keynote at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/omiexcelsior\/2017-art-environment-conference-unsettled-exhibition-bonnie-ora-sherk-details-work-living-library-nevada-museum-art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i class=\"\">Art + Environment International Conference<\/i><\/a>\u00a0in October, have all paved way for the development of a place-based\u00a0<i class=\"\">Reno Branch Living Library &amp; Think Parks <\/i>developed<i> <\/i>across diverse parts of the world, <b><i>Green-Powered Digital Gateways <\/i><\/b>will serve as multi-functional or multi-<a href=\"https:\/\/alivinglibrary.org\/archive-site\/uncategorized\/funcshuional-art-east-meets-west-north-south\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Funcshuional <\/i><\/a>sculptural elements in the landscape, showcasing local resources and processes of communities through Multimedia Digital Archives, allow for live interactive broadcast between places, and bring underground water forth as needed. <i>Green-Powered Digital Gateways<\/i> will<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>serve as a dramatic visual Beacon for the community and also help us to experience and learn from the commonalities and diversities of different cultures and ecologies &#8211;
