From September 28, 2018 to June 15, 2019, the\u00a0de Saisset Museum in Santa Clara University is hosting the exhibition\u00a0Radical Velocity<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, curated by Lauren Baines, showing the power of the human body to impact our sense of place. Several images from\u00a0Bonnie Ora Sherk<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0<\/b>Sitting Still\u00a0<\/strong>Series\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(1970), a powerful and pioneering, environmental performance installation series, are being featured in the Exhibition. \u00a0The\u00a0Sitting Still Series\u00a0<\/i>highlights\u00a0how a seated human figure can very simply transform an environment<\/a>. Seated in an armchair in diverse urban places \u2013 Army Street\/101 Freeway Interchange Construction Zone, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Financial District including Bank of America Plaza, and various indoor\/ outdoor cages in the San Francisco Zoo, Bonnie Ora Sherk transformed dead spaces into new and interesting environments that changed our perceptions about possibilities.<\/p>\n

The Exhibition is presented as part of\u00a0New Terrains: Mobility & Migration<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, an initiative developed collaboratively by South Bay Arts Organizations, to emphasize the movement of bodies through spaces \u2013 social, political, literal and figurative.<\/p>\n
