The California Strategic Growth Council has awarded Life Frames, Inc. with a multi-year grant for 2013-16, to continue development of the Bernal Heights Living Library & Think Park Nature Walkan urban greening project funded by Proposition 84 to improve the sustainability and livability of California’s communities.  The grant will allow us to add more trees, understory plants, and interpretive signage in the Nature Walk in St. Mary’s Park, Holly Park, and the two Branch Living Library schools:  Junipero Serra Elementary School and Junipero Serra Child Development Center.

This new, expressive, narrative landscape links parks, schools, public housing, and streets leading to hidden Islais Creek at south side of St. Mary’s Park.  It is a demonstration for creating landscapes that frame the whole Islais Creek Watershedthe largest in San Francisco, that interconnects eleven communities in southeast and southwest neighborhoods of the City: Noe Valley, Mission, Bernal Heights, Potrero Hill, Bayview, Portola, Crocker-Amazon, Excelsior, OMI, Sunnyside, Glen Park.
