Bonnie Ora Sherk & A Living Library Featured In “Discover Your Watershed” Video Series Produced By San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

How much do you know about your Watershed? San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, in partnership with BAYCAT, a nonprofit enterprise, has produced a video series featuring 12 local storytellers who share their stories about San Francisco's eight Watersheds.

As one of the presenters, Bonnie Ora Sherk talks about Islais Creek Watershed, the largest in San Francisco interconnecting eleven communities, and her evolutionary work around the Watershed - transforming barren, sterile concrete stretches into beautiful California Native Learning Zones and Rain Gardens while conserving fresh water and utilizing it in a productive way. She also stresses on the importance and value of Watershed as a way to frame life as well as to understand interconnected systems. Here is the link to her video.

The "Discover Your Watershed" video stories will be premiered on May 09, 2018 from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the lobby of Koret Auditorium at San Francisco Public Library. Register for the event to learn more about the history of the city's Watersheds.

Subscribe to SF Water Power Sewer, the official YouTube channel of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), to watch the video series after the premiere.

Spring Is Here & So Is Planting With A Living Library

Spring Plating at Denman Rear YardIn the Rear Yard of James Denman Middle School, it was a busy Tuesday on April 03, 2018, after the students' Spring Break. Bonnie Ora Sherk, along with A.L.L. Delivered from Pacific Nurseries, these California Natives were planted as a part of the planting plan developed by Bonnie Ora, to create a new Outdoor Classroom, adding to the other newly established California Native Learning Zones that are transforming the otherwise barren, asphalt and concrete school yard into a vibrant series of gardens of colors, textures and new life.
